Food for thought

Holiday meals can bring joy as well as stress. You can choose which emotion you want to feed.

Here are some tips for filling your holiday plate with positivity. Bring out an old photo album to share pictures of happy events from the past. It will encourage stories and shared laughter.

Take time to listen to other points of view, even if you may not agree with them. This can often diffuse confrontation. If discussions do become heated, break the cadence by acknowledging your host, adding some humor, or introducing another topic if possible.

Remember to acknowledge friends or relatives that are no longer with you.

Most importantly it’s a time of thanksgiving, which reminds us to be grateful for all of the positive things in our lives.
