Just Sit Still
Taking a little time out for yourself every day to be quiet and still in today’s busy world can be life changing. Unfortunately, most of us don’t actually do this on a daily basis—if ever. We somehow feel that if we are “doing nothing,” we aren’t being productive. If we sit still for even a few minutes we tend to get restless and grab our phones, turn on the TV or find something, anything, to do.
The goal is to spend a few minutes giving your mind a break from all the distractions and interruptions. You need this in your life more than you know! Even if you can only set aside a few minutes a day, do it. And if you miss a day or two, don’t beat yourself up. Just start again
I remember hearing once that even a cloudy glass of water becomes clear when it is still…
Technique of the week: Find a space in your home or office that is comfortable and quiet—any spot where you won’t be interrupted—and set the timer on your phone for 5 (or so) minutes. You can focus on your breath, the flame of a candle, or a visual of a waterfall—whatever is soothing to you. If you want to go further and try meditation, check out this link.
